Either I’m getting used to filming hours of workouts or I’m in pretty good shape for an old man… or perhaps a little of both.
I want to say the latter because it just sounds awesomer.
On my last day in Lapeer, Michigan, I shamefully ate a stack of pancakes on the morning of my flight. I’ve earned them. We filmed hours of metabolic workouts 2 days in a row.
And here I am today, not feeling sore at all. Not bad for an “old man”. I’ll be making more trips up there for sure.
After Saturday’s filming, Brian Kalakay, the genius behind Bootcamp Games, and I headed to a place called “FroYo”. Because, after filming so many workouts, you gotta have a waffle with frozen yogurt… it’s just the right thing to do.
Of course, no matter where we go in Lapeer, Brian is recognized by someone that goes to his bootcamps. He’s like a big celebrity up there – and quite honestly, he deserves to be.
He and his coaches know how to bring high energy to every bootcamp I’ve seen. I love getting there a day early just to watch one of his bootcamps go down.
His campers love him and with good reason. His bootcamp uses these games that allow his campers to act like kids…
… and that means they come back for more and more. He’s actually having to “cap off” his classes because they are jam packed.
That’s a good problem.
I know if I lived in Lapeer, this would be my gym.
As he was taking me to the airport, he was telling me about a fun winter bootcamp game he’s using with his bootcamps. I wish I could have stayed to partake in the fun.
It’s a fat-torching snowball fight – No, I’m not kidding.
Here’s how to do it…
Snowball Fight!
Format: Two even teams of people
Supplies Needed: Sheets of newspaper crumpled into little balls with a little masking tape around them to keep them from falling apart.
Make about 30-40 of them and store them in a plastic bag. Bring them out whenever you play this game. Call the little paper balls “snowballs” for the use of this game.
How to Begin: Each team will stand facing each other lined up on opposite sides of the floor. Designate a line in the middle of the room or use towels to mark it off. Line the paper dodge balls up in the center of the room on the line.
Objective: The team with the last person standing wins.
How to Play: When you say “go”, everyone will run to the middle of the room and try to grab as many paper balls as they can.
Then, they start throwing the balls at the other team trying to hit them. If they are hit, they have to sit out in a half squat position and cheer their team on.
If they catch a paper ball that was thrown at them, the person who threw it is out and they can pick a teammate to get back in the game.
Do not cross the center line or else you are out.
The ultimate goal is to hit the opposite team with the balls or catch the balls thrown while trying not to get hit.
This game is exactly like dodge ball but a little friendlier because of the use of paper balls instead of hard rubber balls.
Ha… amazing. That’s how you get your campers coming back for more and more.
You should see the bodyweight games he has, along with the Hardcore Games. He told me about a couple of those, too.

Brian has only had his gym open for about 6 months…
… and he only started with 3 people. Now, his bootcamps are packed with people at every workout.
It’s because of these games that has made him a hero in his community. Now you can be a hero, too.
